Veterinary Surgeons

Heather Westron MRCVS

Heather qualified in 2000, and joined Alma Veterinary Surgery shortly afterwards. She is our Director and is also involved in all aspects of our pet related medical and surgical workload.

She loves keeping active and being out of doors in all weathers. Heather has a menagerie of pets including a dog, cats, hens and rabbits.

Amy Martindale Veterinary Surgeon MRCVS

Amy qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2014. She started her career locally and after working in America for several years, came back to join Alma in 2021.

Amy brings a lot of experience to the team with particular interests in dentistry, internal medicine and surgery. Amy is currently working towards a certificate in Advanced General Practice.

Rosie Stoddart MRCVS

Rosie qualified in 2003 and joined Alma Veterinary Surgery in 2018.

She is involved in the small animal medical and surgical workload. Rosie has a springer spaniel.

Joanne Woodward RVN

Joanne qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1992, and after working at the PDSA in London and Hull, and at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, joined us in 2001 and is involved with most of the surgical and medical aspects of the practice.

Joanne celebrated 30 years as a registered veterinary nurse with the RCVS in 2022.

In 2021 Joanne was presented with the BSAVA Ray Butcher Award for significant contributions made to animal welfare in the community. This recognised her work helping and advising clients with rescue dogs, whelping bitches, dog breeding and behavioural issues particularly during the stressful COVID times. Joanne has also hand reared many kittens for the RSPCA.

Karen Hepples

Karen Joined Alma Vets in 1990 and is out longest serving member of staff.  Karen has a wealth of knowledge and experience with all aspects of her nursing role, with a particular focus on cats and their behaviour.

Rebecca Sims BTEC National Diploma Animal Care

Becky joined us in 1998, and as well as the routine duties she has a particular role in keeping our practice pharmacy fully stocked and organised. In her spare time Becky shows sheep, enjoys horse riding, has 2 border collies and helps run the family flock of sheep.

Kimberly Moir Nursing Assistant

Kimberly joined our team as a receptionist in 2020 before moving to the nursing team the following year. Kimberly previously did work experience with us for several years during her animal management studies and has a strong customer care background.

Laura is our receptionist who joined the Alma team in 2023.

She has moved from a reception role within the public sector to the veterinary practice.
